Jay grew up in Turbeville, South Carolina where he worked on the family farm. After graduating from The Citadel in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, he pursued a career in Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials testing until 1997. At that time, Jay became a construction manager for communications towers. In 2001 after the stock market plunge and 9/11, telecommunications companies cut back on construction of towers and Jay again worked in the field of Geotechnical Engineering until 2011 when he left Engineering to become a full time Real Estate Agent.
Jay has experience with properties through his endeavors as a Geotechnical Engineer and is licensed in North and South Carolina as a Professional Engineer as well as with the International Code Council (ICC) as a Commercial Building Inspector. Jay has also taught classes to help inspectors pass the Commercial Welding Inspector’s exam.
Jay is a Real Estate investor with several properties and understands the complexities of mortgage modifications and short sales and the intricacies of dealing with banks and lending institutions through his own efforts with his personal properties.
